AFCAT 2 2020 Notification And Exam Date - OTA Worth Loving

AFCAT 2 2020: Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) where it selects new batches of pilots, technical and non-technical officer trainees once in six months.
The training usually starts in the month of July and January. The examinations are designated as AFCAT-1 and AFCAT-2 respectively. The details would be available in the official notification. AFCAT 2 for this year is notified today i.e 09 June 2020. The last date of application is 14 July 2020. The written examination is on 19 & 20 September 2020. The AFSB could be any date from about November 2020 to April 2021. The training will start in July 2021.

AFCAT 2020 Important dates

AFCAT 2020 Eligibility Conditions

The following conditions are to be met by candidates of AFCAT 2020:
1. Educational Qualifications: 
The following qualifications are required as per posts:
Flying Branch:
  • Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and (a) Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Ground Duty (Technical) Branch

Candidates with a minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University. Specialization varies according to post.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches

Candidates with a minimum of 60% marks in any Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course).

AFCAT 2 2020 Syllabus

1. General Awareness: History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current
Affairs, Environment, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, etc.

2. English: Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/
Filling in of correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases.

3. Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams).

4. Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test section: Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.


AFCAT Eligibility

The interested candidates before applying must make sure that they satisfy all the criteria for eligibility. The eligibility can be proved through the help of four main criteria namely, nationality, age limit, marital status, and education. Each of them has been discussed below.
A. Nationality (Candidate must necessarily be a citizen of India)

B. Marital Status

  • The candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course.
  • Widows/Widowers are also not eligible to apply.
  • A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application even after successfully clearing the SSB and medical will also not be eligible for training.

C. Age Limit

For Flying Branch:
Maximum Age - 24 years 
Minimum Age - 20 years.
As on 01 July 2021 (Born Between 02 July 1997 - 01 July 2001, both dates inclusive)
For Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch:
Maximum Age - 26 years.
Minimum Age - 20 years.
As on 01 July 2021(Born Between 02 July 1995 - 01 July 2001, both dates inclusive)

AFCAT Selection Process

The first stage of selection will be a written examination. This exam will consist of two sections. The detailed examination pattern for this test is expounded further. Successfully qualified candidates will be invited for the SSB exam. This exam will further consist of various tests like Picture Perception and Discussion test, Psychological test, etc. Finally, the candidates will be tested for medical fitness. The overall process of selection will be as follows.
  1. AFCAT Exam
  2. Air Force Selection Board Exam (SSB)
  3. Physical & Medical Test.
