UPSC CDS 1 2021: Exam Date, Result, Cut Off, Syllabus, Selection Process, Eligibility, Notification
Combined Defence Services Examination commonly known as CDS is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment of Commissioned Officers in Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
In the CDS Exam, candidates will be asked questions from three sections - General Knowledge, Elementary Maths and English Language. Here are the complete details of the UPSC CDS 2020 Exam: |
CDS (I) 2020 Dates
- CDS (I) notification 2020 - 28 Oct, 2020.
- CDS (I) 2020 last date to apply 17 Nov, 2020
- CDS (I) 2020 exam date 07 Feb, 2021
- CDS (I) 2020 Admit Card 3 weeks before
- CDS (I) 2020 result date -- March
UPSC CDS I 2020: Eligibility Criteria, Age Limit.
- For Indian Military Academy (IMA), unmarried candidates born not earlier than 02 Jan 1998, and not later than 01 Jan 2003, can only apply. Age limit: 19-24
- For Indian Naval Academy (INA), unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02 Jan 1998, and not later than 01 Jan 2003, are eligible. Age limit: 19-24
- Candidates applying for Air Force Academy should be between 20 to 24 year. (born not earlier than 02 Jan 1998, and not later than 01 Jul 2002).
- For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men), unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02 Jan 1997, and not later than 01 Jan 2003, are eligible for the exam.
- For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course), candidates should be unmarried and born not earlier than 02 Jan 1997, and not later than 01 Jan 2003.

3. Air Force Academy, Hyderabad—(Pre-Flying) Training Course commencing in July, 2021 i.e. No. 210 F(P) Course ——— 32 Vacancies
4. Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras)— 114th SSC (Men) Course (NT) commencing in October, 2021 ——— 225 Vacancies
5. Officers Training Academy, Chennai—28th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in October, 2021. ——— 15 Vacancies
Educational Qualification
- For IMA and Officers’ Training Academy, candidates must be a graduate.
- For Indian Naval Academy, candidates must have a degree in Engineering from a recognised university.
- For Air Force Academy, a degree with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering is necessary.
UPSC CDS 2020 Selection process
The UPSC CDS 1 selection process comprises two stages:
- Stage I: Written Examination
- Stage II: Interview
- Stage III: Medical
- Stage IV: Merit List
The candidates who qualify Stage I will be allowed to appear for Stage-II examination. Candidates who qualify both the stages need to undergo Medical Examination before being recruited in the UPSC.
UPSC CDS 2020 Exam Pattern
The CDS I 2021 will be conducted in pen and paper mode. The exam will be conducted in two sessions - Morning and Forenoon. The Stage I of the UPSC CDS I 2021, that is, the Written Examination will be conducted in the following pattern:
CDS SSB Interview 2020
Candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for the UPSC CDS I 2021 Interview. The CDS SSB Interview 2021 involves 2 stages of intelligence and personality test:
- Stage 1 consists of Officer Intelligence Rating, Picture Perception and Description Test.
- Stage 2 involves Interview, Group Testing Officer Task, Psychology Test and Conference.
CDS SSB Interview 2021 is a 5-day long process. Candidates are judged physically, mentally and psychologically in the Interview round.
Physical Fitness
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to CDS exam.
Nationality
- Candidates must be citizens of India.
- Subjects of Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1 January 1962
- A person of India origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Candidates will have to produce Certificate issued by Indian authorities certifying their claim.
UPSC CDS Admit Card 1 2021
Download the UPSC CDS Admit Card by following the given steps:
Step 1: Visit upsc.gov.in
Step 2: Click on ‘Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2020 Admit Card’
Step 3: Enter credentials like Roll Number & Date of Birth
Step 4: Click on Submit Button
Step 5: Download and take a printout of UPSC CDS 1 Admit Card 2021
NOTE: Admit card can only be downloaded after 1 or 2 weeks before the exams.
