India-China Violent Face-off: Casualties reported on both sides - OTA Worth Loving



  • An Indian army officer and two soldiers of a BIHAR REGIMENT attained 'Veergati' in a "violent face-off" on Monday night with Chinese soldiers at Galwan Valley in Ladakh, in a massive escalation at a time there were efforts to defuse weeks of tension at the border.

  • India and China hold Major General level dialogue between Indian Army and Chinese PLA in Eastern Ladakh to defuse border tension after casualties reported on both sides in violent clashes witnessed first time in 45 years.
  • According to official , no firing took place, casualties have taken place on both sides. However, no word on Chinese toll yet but according to some sources 3 or more fatalities on the Chinese side too in last night’s brawl.
  • Beijing has accused India of crossing the border, 'attacking Chinese personnel', reported news agency Agence France Presse. China's Foreign Ministry said it called on India to not take unilateral actions or stir up trouble, reported Global Times.

  • Sources said that the Commanding Officer, a Junior Commissioned Officer and a soldier attained 'Veergati' during a  violent skirmish perpetrated by the Chinese side that have refused to leave the Galwan valley and are sitting inside Indian territory.
  • The Galwan river area has a painful history with China, with People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers surrounding a freshly set up Indian Army post in July 1962, in what would be one of the early triggers to the Sino-Indian war.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, the three service chiefs and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar. Recent developments in Eastern Ladakh were discussed.
